An Iowa City woman was arrested after allegedly assaulting and causing damage to another woman’s residence.

At approximately 7:21 pm on July 11th, police responded to the victim’s residence in regards to the assault. According to the woman, 44-year-old Tonya Brown of the Town and Campus Apartments had come over to the apartment and was upset over a personal issue. She then allegedly threw a plastic cup full of liquid at the woman.

The woman told Brown to leave and shut the door. Brown reportedly left her phone inside, and the victim was reluctant to let her back in because of her behavior.  Brown allegedly kicked the door open, breaking part of the frame.

She was charged with simple assault and 4th degree Criminal Mischief.  If convicted on both counts, Brown could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail.
