A Cedar Rapids woman was charged with OW after an incident at Coralville Lake.

According to a DNR officer, 30-year-old Kaylee Weems of Waveland Drive NW was boating on the reservoir on a pontoon boat full of people.  As the boat passed the patrol boat, she allegedly started yelling and pointing at the officers in the boat, displaying what the report called “unusual and excited emotions.”

After both boats docked, Weems allegedly continued to say unusual things to the officers, staring at them and making gestures indicative of impairment.  Weems then reportedly went to the parking lot and drove back down to the dock and put a cooler inside her car.  When she pulled away from the ramp, the officer initiated a traffic stop.

Weems alleged that she had drank two beers, and consented to field sobriety tests which reportedly showed measurable impairment.

Officers say Weems fought with them and refused to get into the patrol car.  She also refused chemical testing.

Weems was charged with OWI and Inteference with Official Acts. If convicted on both counts, she could be sentenced to a maximum 13 months in jail.
