Former University of Iowa baseball player Duncan Davitt has been traded from the Rays to the White Sox.

Davitt was traded ahead of Thursday’s Major League Baseball trade deadline. The 25-year-old righthander was sent to Chicago along with Curtis Mead and Ben Peoples in exchange for pitcher Adrian Houser.

Davitt started 2025 in Double-A, where he amassed a 3.55 ERA and a WHIP of 1.08. Since being called up to Triple-A, Davitt has seen his ERA rise to 6.30 with a 1.55 WHIP in 20 innings pitched, although the Indianola native also has a 24:6 strikeout-to-walk ratio since being called up.

Davitt was drafted in the 18th Round (554th pick) of the 2022 MLB Draft by Tampa Bay. In his final year with the Hawkeyes he went 4-1 with a 3.38 ERA in 19 appearances, including four starts.
