An area transient was charged with his third or subsequent domestic assault after allegedly cutting up the victim’s belongings and threatening to slam his bike on her.
Police were called to Shelter House on Southgate Avenue Thursday afternoon on reports of a fight. According to the victim, 36-year-old Dustin Wimer, her intimate boyfriend, had cut all her belongings and took off. Video of the reported altercation allegedly showed Wimer picking up his bicycle and acting as if he was going to slam it on the woman. He then kicked the woman and rode off on his bicycle.
Wimer was later located, and a search incident to arrest reportedly turned up several clear pipes used for smoking methamphetamine, with burnt meth residue.
A check of Wimer’s criminal record showed two prior domestic assault convictions in Johnson County from 2021 and 2023.
He was charged with Domestic Assault 3rd or subsequent offense, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on both counts, Wimer could be sentenced to over five years in prison.
