A Tiffin man was charged with theft after being found with a stolen vehicle Monday evening.
An Iowa City police officer observed 21-year-old Koda Holst of RJ Drive driving past his location. A check of the truck showed that it had been reported stolen out of Cedar Rapids.
The truck was later located at an address on Catskill Court, where Holst was still reportedly sitting in the driver’s seat. He was detained and his rights were read and understood. Holst allegedly stated that he was driving, but denied knowing the truck was stolen. He reportedly said his father had given him the truck and told him that he had purchased it.
Holst’s driving status was found as suspended for non-payment of fines, and a post arrest search of the truck allegedly found a clear pipe with white residue. He reportedly admitted to being a meth smoker.
Holst was charged with 2nd degree Theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted on the charges, he faces a maximum prison sentence of 61 months.
