A Coralville man has been sentenced to seven years prison for violating a no contact order over a dozen times.
According to a news release from the Johnson County Attorney’s Office, 26-year-old Nathan Fisher was sentenced by Judge Brandon Schrock on Friday. Fisher was convicted of violating a no contact order 14 times between May 15th and July 6th of this year. One of the violations included 91 phone calls Fisher made while in custody at the Johnson County Jail. The phone calls were made to a victim with whom Fisher currently has pending charges of Domestic Abuse Assault of a Pregnant Person – Strangulation; Domestic Abuse Assault – Strangulation with Bodily Injury; and Domestic Abuse – 3rd or Subsequent Offense.
Fisher was serving a two-year probation sentence from an incident in 2024 with the same victim, where he pleaded guilty to Domestic Abuse Assault – Strangulation with Bodily Injury; Domestic Abuse Assault – 2nd Offense; and Violation of Sex Offender Registry – 1st Offense. Fisher was also found guilty of violating the no contact order twice in 2024.
Schrock sentenced Fisher to the maximum 180 days for each of the 14 counts of Violating a No Contact Order, with each sentence of 180 days running consecutively, for a total of up to seven years.
Fisher has additional pending charges of Sex Offender Registration Violation – 2nd Offense and Driving While Revoked.
