A Cedar Rapids man was taken into custody early Sunday after allegedly being found in possession of a bag of marijuana.
Police made a traffic stop on a vehicle with a non-functioning brake light just before 1:00 am on the 200 block of South Capitol Street. 23-year-old Andre Roberts of Coventry Lane NE was a passenger in the vehicle, and upon officer contact, an odor of raw marijuana was observed.
A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly turned up several baggies of marijuana, at least one of which was in the front passenger seat area where Roberts was sitting. He allegedly admitted ownership to one of the bags of marijuana.
Roberts was charged with marijuana possession and could be sentenced to up to one year in jail if convicted.
