An Ottumwa man wanted for a bike theft earlier this summer has been arrested.

Surveillance video allegedly showed 39-year-old Sean Dewalt stealing a bike from the north side of Burge Hall just before 3am July 2nd.  He reportedly removed the entire bike except for the front tire, which was still chained to the bike rack.

He was caught by police riding a different bike with the stolen bike on his shoulder. Dewalt then allegedly admitted to the theft.

A warrant for Dewalt’s arrest was issued Thursday; his initial court appearance was waived and he applied for counsel the next day.

Dewalt was charged with 4th degree theft and could face up to a year in jail if convicted.
