An Iowa City man wanted on a warrant was arrested early Sunday after causing a disturbance downtown.
Police were called to Reunion Brewery on reports of a fight at around 1:20am reportedly involving 21-year-old Jaryn Willis. While attempting to identify him, Willis allegedly exhibited multiple signs of intoxication, including bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, impaired balance and the odor of ingested alcohol.
He reportedly became noncompliant, refused all lawful orders, and had to be forcefully handcuffed. Willis refused a post-arrest PBT.
A check of his criminal record showed a warrant for driving a stolen vehicle on Cedar Street the morning of July 16th. He is barred from driving through May 2029.
Willis was charged with Public Intoxication and Interference with Official Acts for Sunday’s incident. Including the Operating Vehicle without Owner’s Consent and Driving while Barred charges, he faces a prison sentence of over four years if convicted on all counts.
