The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Sex Offender Registry has been redesigned with new functions to improve user experience.
The Des Moines Register reports the public can search current information regarding registered sex offenders in the state. Hunter Bellon, the Iowa Department of Public Safety special agent in charge of the registry, said the new website will help ensure that critical information about sex offender registrants remains readily available to the public.
A new interactive map displays the number of registrants across regions of the state. Users can sign up for personalized notifications.
There are a total of 6,658 registered sex offenders with primary addresses in Iowa as of Monday. 183 are in Johnson County, with 387 in Linn County. Polk County has the most, with 965, and Adams County the fewest with just 5.
The website address is iowasexoffender.gov.
