Cedar Rapids Police have announced two arrests in connection with a shots-fired incident that occurred earlier this month.
At approximately 1:34p.m. August 14th, officers were dispatched to the Union Apartment complex in the 4200 block of 21st Ave SW for a shots-fired report. On-scene, officers learned a juvenile female victim was being driven in a personal vehicle to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The scene was located in the parking lot.
Two juveniles, 17-year-old Qwanell Beard and 16-year-old Artrell Beard, both of Cedar Rapids, were arrested on August 18th in connection with the incident. They have both been charged with 1st degree Robbery, Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault While Participating in a Felony, Going Armed with Intent, Conspiracy to Commit Forcible Felony, Use of a Dangerous Weapon in Commission of Crime, Persons Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapon, and Possession of Dangerous Weapon by a Minor.
Both were arrested on August 18 for Violation of Court-Ordered Placement and Terms of Probation. They were taken to the Linn County Detention Center at that time and have remained there.
Names of these minors are being released as juvenile confidentiality laws allow for the public release of juveniles when charged as adults.
