The wife of former Coralville City Councilor Tom Gill has announced she’s running for the position in the November election.
Deb Gill released the announcement Tuesday.
Gill retired from the University of Iowa Treasury as a financial analyst. She has been a member of the Friends of the Coralville Library for 42 years and has chaired the book sale for the past 15 years. Gill was awarded the Governor’s Volunteer Award by the Iowa City Community School District for her work at Coralville Central Elementary and is an active member of TTT, a woman’s service organization that awards camping scholarships to elementary girls.
Gill says she’s politically neutral and supports the completion of Forevergreen Road, the local option sales tax, and the city’s departments, including police and fire.
Candidates for Mayor and City Council in Coralville have through September 18th to file their nomination papers with the county auditor’s office.
