A North Liberty man was arrested early Monday after a stop turned up drug paraphernalia and a weapon.

Officers observed 57-year-old David Woods of the Silver Oaks Development Apartments on Highway 965 at Sand Lake Park on McCollister Boulevard after hours just before 1:30 am, riding a bicycle without lighting.  As they approached Woods, he activated a white light mounted on the front of his bike.

Officers attempted to stop him but Woods allegedly refused, told them he was going home, and fled through the parking lot on his bike.  Officers caught up with Woods and again asked him to stop but he reportedly refused.  He was eventually apprehended and a search incident to arrest was conducted.

According to the police report, Woods had a machete strapped to the bike, and a used glass pipe typically used to smoke meth was discovered.

Woods was charged with Interference with Official Acts, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Person Ineligible to carry Dangerous weapons due to a previous felony.  If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 14 months in jail.
