A semi driver avoided what could have been a tragic situation near Riverside early Thursday morning when they were reported driving the wrong way.
Washington County dispatch records indicate witnesses saw the semi driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 218 just before 12:45 a.m. Deputies were dispatched, but before they could arrive a caller informed 9-1-1 that the semi has successfully backed up at the Highway 22 exit and turned around. It was last seen heading northbound toward Hills in the northbound lanes, but the information about the wrong-way driving was still forwarded to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
