Clinton man accused of assaulting fellow bar patron

A Clinton man was charged with assault after allegedly dislocating the elbow of a fellow bar patron.

The alleged incident occurred Sunday at the Sports Column on South Dubuque Street in Iowa City at 1:15 am.  According to the police report, 24-year-old Jacob Cooley was observed on camera and by witnesses shoving a bar patron over the railing to the bar onto the ground.  The victim landed onto the cement, dislocating his elbow. Officers who observed the injury say the elbow was “extremely displaced.”

Cooley was charged with Assault Causing Serious Injury and could be sentenced to up to five years in prison if convicted.
