Residents of Lone Tree and Cedar Rapids were among those injured in a fatal Thursday morning car crash in Muscatine County.
The Iowa State Patrol says a 2018 Ford Explorer being driven by 53-year-old Kristie Thompson of Lone Tree was heading northbound on Highway 70 between Conesville and Columbus Junction just before 6 a.m. when it crossed the center line and struck a southbound Chevy Cruze being driven by 26-year-old Damelonin Lamboni of Conesville. The Chevy rolled into the east ditch and caught fire. Thompson, Lamboni, and two occupants of Lamboni’s vehicle…22-year-old Delphine Pabali and 25-year-old Koboyo Lakougnon, both of Cedar Rapids…were all transported to University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City. One occupant of the Chevy was killed. Their information is being withheld pending notification of family.
The crash closed Highway 70 for several hours Thursday morning. The incident remains under investigation.
