The main provider of material for the Iowa City Public Library is going out of business, which could lead to disruptions in growing the library’s collection.
A statement from Library Director Anne Mangano says Baker and Taylor, the library’s main collection vendor, suddenly closed distribution and processing centers earlier this week. That means the library will not receive anything it has on order with the company. The closure will likely lead to longer wait times for library materials.
Baker and Taylor supplied the majority of the library’s print collections. It also provided processing services, such as the placement of protective jackets and covers, labeling, and catalog records.
The full statement from Mangano can be found here.
