A Cedar Rapids woman has been charged with OWI and Child Endangerment after an incident in North Liberty earlier this month.

On the evening of October 8th, 40-year-old Nikia Lanfier of Bowling Street SW was heading southbound on I380 when a Johnson County deputy reportedly observed her making several lane violations. A traffic stop found Lanfier with the odor of ingested alcohol and bloodshot watery eyes.  She allegedly admitted to consuming a small amount of alcohol. A small bottle of Fireball whiskey was reportedly found in the center console.

After showing measurable impairment on field sobriety testing, she consented to a PBT showing her over the legal limit to drive. A subsequent Datamaster showed her breath-alcohol level at .113 percent

A child was reportedly in the back seat of Lanfier’s van, seated in a car seat but without restraints applied.

She was charged with OWI first offense, child endangerment, failure to secure minor, and an open container violation. If convicted on all charges, Lanfier could face a sentence of up to three years.
