A Shellsburg woman wanted on a possession charge was charged with burglary after being found in a Fairfax home two days later.

According to police, 58-year-old Leah Jackson of the Timber Ridge Mobile Home Community was stopped Friday night on Derby Avenue in Fairfax after allegedly committing multiple moving violations.  A K9 alerted to the vehicle, and probable cause search reportedly turned up a glass pipe with burnt residue and a plastic baggie with a white substance identified as methamphetamine.

A warrant for Jackson’ arrest was issued.

Late Sunday afternoon, she was found in an unoccupied Fairfax home.  A sheriff’s deputy arrived while Jackson was still inside and called her out.  She had possession of an item from inside the home that she claimed was hers.  The homeowner was contacted and said Jackson had no reason to be at or inside the residence. She then admitted to going into the home and retrieving the item.

Jackson was charged with 3rd degree burglary. With the drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia charges from the previous incident, she now faces a prison sentence of up to over 7 years.
