A North Liberty man was arrested Monday evening after an altercation with men who were allegedly illegally dumping furniture.

According to the arrest report, 48-year-old Gerald Arnold of Golfview Court was at the Hawkeye Wildlife Management Area in Oxford when he confronted three men about them illegally dumping a couch and other items in the woods.  The three loaded the dumped items back up and were leaving, when Arnold allegedly swung a piece of wood into the driver’s side window of the vehicle the men were leaving in.  The piece of wood struck the victim in the face, breaking the skin and causing immediate swelling.

Arnold then reportedly hit the driver’s side mirror of the vehicle, causing approximately $300 in damage.

Arnold was arrested and charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury and 5th degree Criminal Mischief.  If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail.
