An area transient faces jail time after allegedly violating a no-contact order and committing a theft.
Police say 43-year-old Derrill Jones boarded a bus at around noon September 18th and tried to talk to the protected party in the order. The victim was scared and called their father to come to the bus stop, where he confirmed it was Jones. Six days later, Jones allegedly confronted the victim again at a bus stop and asked the man for money. He then reportedly followed the victim for a short time. Security camera footage allegedly caught the entire incident.
On September 26th, Jones reportedly stole a drill charger and battery from a table at Shelter House.
Lee has theft convictions from Washington and Johnson counties.
He was taken into custody Saturday evening and charged with two counts of contempt for violating the no-contact order, and one count of 3rd degree Theft. He faces a jail sentence of up to two years if convicted.
