A Coralville woman faces multiple counts of assaulting a police officer after an incident at a liquor store on the Coralville Strip.

Coralville Police were called for an intoxicated subject outside Hawks Liquor & Tobacco just before 8:30 Tuesday night. 32-year-old Gabriela Lanuza of 23rd Avenue reportedly showed signs of intoxication and refused breath testing. She was arrested for Public Intoxication.

Police say Lanuza spit in the faces of two different officers as she was being taken into custody. She also allegedly kicked an officer in the shin as she was being loaded into the squad car and kicked another officer in the thigh as she was being taken into the Coralville Police station on 5th Street.

Along with the intoxication charge, Lanuza now also faces four counts of Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of over eight years in jail.
