An Iowa City man wanted on an assault charge was taken into custody Wednesday evening.
The warrant was in reference to an incident that occurred at 3 am September 28th. 21-year-old Abdalla Almahi of Michael Street allegedly pulled a woman out of a vehicle on Capitol Street, threw her to the ground on two occasions and kicked her while she was on the ground.
The victim reportedly suffered pain, bruising and lacerations that required medical treatment.
A warrant for Almahi’s arrest was requested on October 17th, and he was booked into the Johnson County Jail Wednesday night. He faces a charge of Assault causing Bodily Injury and could spend up to a year in jail if convicted.
