An Iowa woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Iowa City after allegedly stealing from a convenience store, and a vehicle in the parking lot.

Police say 44-year-old Theresa Oberkiser of Ainsworth visited the KwikStar store on Keokuk Street at 4pm. Surveillance video reportedly showed her taking a soda from the coolers and going to the bathroom. When she left the store, the soda was not in her hand and she did not stop to pay for anything at the register.

Cameras also allegedly showed Oberkiser opening an unlocked car door and taking a cup of change containing approximately $30, then driving away in her car.

She later admitted to both thefts when interviewed.

Oberkiser was charged with 3rd degree Theft and 3rd degree Theft of a Motor Vehicle. If convicted on both counts, she could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.
