A Cedar Rapids woman has been charged with bigamy after getting married at the Johnson County Courthouse.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says 33-year-old Victoria Weston of King Drive SW was already married to someone in Georgia when she got married to another person at the Johnson County courthouse on December 10th of last year. Weston later reportedly told investigators that she knew the first marriage was still valid when she signed the legal papers for the December marriage in Iowa City.
Bigamy carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail upon conviction.
