With the Los Angeles Dodgers defeating Toronto in an 11-inning Game 7, Jack Dreyer becomes the first University of Iowa baseball alum in 40 years to win a World Series ring.
Dreyer saw limited action against the Blue Jays, including recording just one out in less than an inning of work in Game 3 and two full innings in Game 4.
Only two other Hawkeyes have earned World Series rings: Jim Sundberg with Kansas City in 1985 and Mike Boddicker with Baltimore in 1983.
One former Hawkeye baseball player has even earned a Stanley Cup ring. Bob Miller, who played for Iowa in the 1950’s, was given a ring by the Los Angeles Kings organization for being the team’s play-by-play announcer when it won the Cup in 2014.
