Johnson County deputies have recovered a trailer reportedly stolen from West Branch…and charged a rural Fairfax man with stealing it.

52-year-old Harry Meader was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 5:45 Saturday night. Arrest records indicate deputies were conducting an investigation at Meader’s residence on 120th Street between Swisher and Walford last May when they discovered a stolen trailer hooked up to Meader’s vehicle. The trailer contained numerous items Meader allegedly claimed as his own. The $6,500 trailer was reported stolen out of West Branch four days earlier, but Meader allegedly claimed he had permission to borrow it because he was moving to Illinois.

Meader is charged with 2nd Degree Theft, which is punishable by a maximum five-year prison sentence upon conviction.
