A Cedar Rapids woman has been arrested after shooting a man that was the identical twin of her sister’s ex-boyfriend.

The Gazette reports the criminal complaint indicates 31-year-old Faith Profit approached Joesph Braxton on November 8th outside of his A Avenue NE apartment and talked with him briefly before pulling out a gun and pointing it at his face.

Braxton pushed the gun away from his face and turned away, and Profit fired three shots at him, hitting him in the left arm and under his left armpit. The bullet that hit under his armpit entered his body, causing serious injury that required hospitalization.

He told police that he recognized Profit as someone he used to work with. Braxton’s identical twin Joses told officers at the hospital that he was going through a bad breakup, and the ex-girlfreind’s sister was later determined to be Profit.

Police found two shell casings matching a firearm found in a vehicle driven by Tatayana Mitchell, who they believe was on scene of the shooting and provided the firearm to Profit. Security footage from the apartment showed the car on scene before and after the incident.

Profit has been charged with attempted murder, willful injury resulting in a serious injury, going armed with intent, assault while participating in a felony, use of a dangerous weapon in the commission of a crime, and person ineligible to carry a dangerous weapon. She faces up to 53 years in prison if convicted on all charges.

Mitchell was charged with being an accessory after the fact and could be sentenced to up to two years in jail if convicted.
