Iowa City Police have arrested a suspect they say stole over $150 in diapers from two different businesses.
According to arrest records, 47-year-old Tosha Aurthur of the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street was seen by staff at Walmart on Highway 1 West selecting $136.57 worth of diapers and leaving the store with them while making no attempt to pay. A search of her person reportedly turned up a vial of a white substance that appeared to be crack cocaine.
Aurthur is accused of stealing $14.99 worth of diapers from CVS Pharmacy on Muscatine Avenue earlier Friday afternoon. She’s now charged with two counts of 3rd Degree Theft and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of five years in jail.
