A Cedar Rapids woman charged with OWI faces an additional charge when she allegedly resisted arrest and injured an officer.

24-year-old Peighton Rahija of Grande Avenue SE was reportedly called in as a suspicious vehicle and followed the reporting party from Highway 218 to the Iowa City Police Department.  An officer met them there, and Rahija’s vehicle, a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder, had no license plates.

She claimed to not know where she was and didn’t know she was driving a vehicle.  Field tests were conducted inside the Police Department where she exhibited measurable impairment until she allegedly refused to complete the tests.

When told she was under arrest for OWI and was going to be transported to the Johnson County Jail.  Rahija reportedly refused to comply with orders to be handcuffed. She had to be escorted to the ground by multiple officers. One suffered a sprained wrist.

Rahija also refused a PBT and Datamaster testing.

She was charged with her second OWI after being convicted of her first this past June. Rahija also was charged with driving while revoked and interference with official acts causing bodily injury. If convicted on all counts, she faces a prison sentence of up to four years.
