A former radio voice of University of Iowa athletics has died.
Jim Albracht died suddenly Tuesday morning at the age of 75. Albracht regularly filled in on Hawkeye radio broadcasts when Gary Dolphin was unavailable, including conflicts between Hawkeye football and basketball games. For several years he also hosted the football pre-game show from outside Kinnick Stadium.
Albracht’s radio career also included stints at WOC and 99+ KFMH, including serving as the first morning show host when KFMH returned as an online station over a decade ago. He also worked in television at WQAD News 8.
Albracht had been living in Kansas City at the time of his death.
