Iowa City Police say a caretaker took $1,000 from a dependent adult.
48-year-old Anthia Leuang of Burns Avenue was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 5:00 Tuesday night. Arrest records indicate Leuang was working for Reach For Your Potential on Muscatine Avenue when she allegedly took about $1,000 from a person in her care. The organization reported the incident, and Leuang allegedly told investigators that she had asked the client for money on multiple occasions in September and October, and that she knew taking the money was wrong. She also allegedly said she would pay the money back.
Leuang is charged with Dependent Adult Abuse. If convicted, she faces a maximum of five years in prison.
