Non-profit group Iowa City Foreign Relations Council says their third-party payment platform has failed to transfer funds amounting to about $6500.
KCRG TV reports the organization is among multiple nonprofits nationwide affected by problems with Flipcause, an Oakland, California-based company. The company has failed to transfer approximately $500,000 in donations back to nonprofits around the country, according to California’s Attorney General.
The Iowa City Foreign Relations Council says they’ve been using Flipcause for about five years and didn’t have any problems with them until early this year. Donations were transferred late, then they stopped completely in late summer.
Peter Gerlach, executive director for the Council says they count on that money to make it during a difficult time for all nonprofit organizations. He has reported Flipcause to the Better Business Bureau and the Iowa Attorney General for investigation.
The California Attorney General has ordered Flipcause to cease operations. Its state Better Business Bureau has given the company an “F” rating.
The Iowa City Foreign Relations Council has gone to a new online platform for donations and continues to accept physical donations. They can be reached at icfrc.org.
