A drunk driving suspect is accused of striking a parked Iowa City Police cruiser.

Arrest records indicate 43-year-old Carlos Gonzales Gomez of Triple Crown Lane in Iowa City was driving a 2001 Nissan Altima in the parking lot of Shelter House on Southgate Avenue just after 8:30 Thursday morning when he struck a parked police car. The officer reports Gonzales Gomez showed signs of intoxication, had an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle, and admitted to drinking the night before. He performed poorly on field sobriety testing, and his breath alcohol level was allegedly above the legal limit for driving.

Gonzales Gomez was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
