A local delivery driver is accused of stealing his own package.
33-year-old Mujtaba Aliomer of 1st Avenue in Coralville was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 4:45 Sunday morning. Iowa City Police say Aliomer was delivering packages for an unidentified company on the morning of December 19th when he allegedly set a package down on a front porch on Galway Drive, took a picture of it, then took the package back to his vehicle while reporting it had been successfully delivered. The package contained a computer worth $699.99. The incident was captured on video.
Aliomer is charged with 4th Degree Theft. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
