A North Liberty man faces a felony charge after allegedly breaking into a rural farmhouse and stealing items.

57-year-old Christopher Ellis of Holiday Lodge Road was reportedly involved in the incident, which occurred in January of 2024.  He allegedly pried off a window screen from the first floor of the residence on James Avenue and broke the window latch to gain entry.  He then left by the back door, leaving it unlocked.  He allegedly conducted a similar burglary that April.

Ellis was identified by a witness who unknowingly purchased one of the stolen items, an oak storage bench.

A warrant was issued on June 27th 2024 and Ellis remained at large until he was booked into the Johnson County Jail Monday night. He was charged with two counts of 3rd degree burglary and one count of 5th degree theft. If convicted on all charges, Ellis could be sentenced to over ten years in prison.
