Iowa City Mayor Bruce Teague has issued a statement on the Wednesday shooting of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis.

The statement, released by the City on Thursday, said in part, “I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the killing of Minneapolis resident Renee Nicole Good during a federal immigration enforcement action. My heart is with her family, her loved ones, and her community as they grieve this tragic and unnecessary loss of life.

“This killing did not happen in Iowa City, but Minneapolis is only a few hours away, and its impact is felt here. Iowa City stands with Minneapolis. We stand with the family of Renee Nicole Good, with the broader community grieving this loss, and with immigrant families who are living with fear in this moment.”
