U.S. Senator Joni Ernst has endorsed current U.S. Congresswoman Ashley Hinson to replace her on Capitol Hill.
Ernst made the announcement at an appearance in Dallas County on Saturday. Hinson currently represents Iowa’s 2nd Congressional district, but she announced plans to run for the Republican nomination for Ernst’s Senate seat after Ernst announced last fall that she would not seek another term. That announcement came shortly after Ernst was widely criticized for her, “Well, we are all going to die! For Heaven’s sake…” comment at a town hall when pressed on cutting funding for Medicare.
The primary is set for June 2nd.
