A Nebraska man faces felony charges after attempting to use another person’s identity to withdraw money from two different financial institutions.

According to court documents, 58-year-old transient Todd Jackson of Pender Nebraska was at the MidWestOne bank branch in Coralville the afternoon of December 5th and presented a teller with a fictitious identification card that had the victim’s name and other personal information. Jackson allegedly signed the victim’s name on the withdrawal request and attempted to obtain $8700.

On December 8th, Jackson reportedly went to the Hills Bank branch in downtown Iowa City, carrying a fictitious US Army ID card with the victim’s identity information in an attempt to withdraw $8600. The teller declined the transaction, and the victim was alerted of the identity theft.

Jackson faces two felony counts of identity theft and could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.
