A North Liberty man pulled over for speeding faces jail time after allegedly giving officers false ID information.
Police pulled 26-year-old Irakoze Martin of Fisher Trail on I380 North in the early hours of May 17th for allegedly exiting his lane of travel several times. Upon contact, he reportedly provided the name of his friend instead of his own.
He was pulled over for speeding, unsafe passing and failure to dim his headlights the evening of November 21st and once again provided an Iowa ID for a person that was not him. After an investigation and speaking with Martin, he reportedly admitted to giving his friend’s ID to police on both occasions because he did not have a driver’s license.
Martin was taken into custody early Tuesday, charged with malicious prosecution and two counts of providing false ID information. He faces up to 14 months in jail if convicted on all counts.
