A Coralville woman was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly trying to set a bed on fire while her domestic partner was laying on it.

Police say the incident involved 43-year-old Debra Lynn Johnson of the Iowa Lodge Apartments and occurred at around 7:30pm.  Johnson reportedly endangered the safety of their domestic partner and property intentionally when they used a lighter in an attempt to set a bed on fire while the domestic partner was occupying the bed.

Johnson allegedly told their domestic partner that they were going to set the bedding on fire. Visible burn holes were made as a result of Johnson’s actions.

She reportedly resisted attempts by police to search her and secure her in the back of a police vehicle. Once inside the squad car, she allegedly undid her seat belt, removed clothing, and stuck her head and feet into the partition and windows of the vehicle while disobeying officer commands to cease that behavior.

Johnson was taken into custody and charged with reckless use of fire and interference with official acts. If convicted, she could face a jail sentence of up to 13 months.
