A Coralville plastic surgeon has been charged by state regulators with professional incompetence.
Iowa Capital Dispatch reports the Iowa Board of Medicine has charged Dr. Kahlil Jihad Andrews of Coralville with practicing medicine in a manner that is harmful or detrimental to the public, professional incompetence, and improper management of medical records.
The board has not publicly disclosed any information as to the conduct that gave rise to the charges other than to say it took place while Andrews worked as a surgeon in the Coralville area. State records indicate the charges stem from two separate investigations initiated in 2023 and 2024.
Dr. Andrews has been sued for negligence along with Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa between 2018 and 2025. Among the allegations are patients left with deformities from operations for a chin implant, liposuction, abdominoplasty, and other procedures.
Dr. Andrews issued a written statement to Iowa Capital Dispatch, categorically denying the allegations and charges.
A hearing on the charges is scheduled for March 25 and 26.
