The woman stabbed to death in Coralville Friday was the suspect’s wife.
That information was released Monday by Coralville Police.
47-year old James Martin of Spring Rose Circle was arrested and charged Friday after officers responded to a report of a stabbing at Martin’s residence at approximately 6:40am. According to a previous release, Martin had allegedly plotted to kill the woman in the hours leading up to the stabbing. Coralville Police say Martin grabbed a kitchen knife, ambushed the woman as she was walking out of a room, and stabbed her repeatedly. Arriving officers immediately rendered medical aid, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Amber Nicole Martin.
James Martin faces life in prison without parole after being charged with 1st degree Murder.
