A Marengo man faces a contempt charge after allegedly calling the subject of a no-contact order after an OWI arrest.
41-year-old Eric Brecht of West South St was observed in Oxford at around 12:30am Monday and stopped for reported reckless driving and lane violations. Upon contact, he allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and had the odor of ingested alcohol.
After performing poorly on field sobriety tests, he refused a PBT but agreed to a Datamaster test. It showed his breath-alcohol level at .170 percent.
Due to previous OWI convictions in 2015 and 2016, Brecht was charged with his third offense, a Class D Felony punishable by up to five years in prison if convicted.
While in custody, he reportedly called the victim of his no-contact order, and was charged with contempt.
