A suspect faces new charges after allegedly damaging the inside of a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office transport van.
Arrest records indicate 38-year-old Chad Wambold of West Branch was being transported between correctional facilities around 1:00 Saturday afternoon when he damaged the van’s lights, vent covers, cameras, microphones, and the partition. He also reportedly spit chewed food throughout the van, hitting one deputy in the head.
Wambold also allegedly threatened to come to the homes of two different officers and kill them in front of their families. Deputies say he also threatened to kill an officer in front of his children.
Wambold is charged with one count each of Assault by an Inmate With Bodily Fluids and 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief and three counts of 1st Degree Harassment. If convicted on all counts from the van incident, he faces a maximum of 13 years in prison.
Wambold was initially arrested just after 2:30 Friday morning after reportedly causing a drunken disturbance at the new Fieldhouse bar on South Clinton Street and threatening to decapitate the arresting officer and his parents.
Last Tuesday night, Wambold was arrested after allegedly making threats at Brother’s. Wambold was also arrested last December after allegedly threatening to kill patrons at TCB Pool Hall. He reached a plea deal in the TCB case, and sentencing is set for February 13th.
