University of Iowa head women’s soccer coach Dave Dilanni is leaving the program to take the head coaching job at the University of Michigan.
Michigan Director of Athletics Warde Manuel announced the hiring of DiIanni as the head women’s soccer coach on Tuesday. DiIanni is the fourth head coach in the 32-year history of the women’s soccer program.
In the release announcing his hiring, Dilanni said he and his family are excited to be coming home, where they’ve spend the better part of their years raising their children.
Dilanni is 19th among active women’s soccer head coaches with 346 wins. His career .749 winning percentage ranks third among current head coaches.
The women’s soccer team X account posted a simple “Thank you for everything, Coach” Tuesday morning. Coach Dilanni posted a lengthy thank-you letter this morning, saying “Its been a great 12 years. Once a Hawkeye, Always a Hawkeye.”
