A brother and sister from Holstein Iowa were both arrested early Saturday on OWI charges after switching seats in their vehicle.

The initial driver, 19-year-old Gavin Vohs, was stopped near the intersection of East Jefferson and Van Buren Streets for making an improper turn and stopping on the sidewalk at the intersection of Clinton and Jefferson.

Once the vehicle was stopped, Vohs switched seats with his sister, 22-year-old Emma Vohs.

The officer on scene reportedly could see that Gavin Vohs was intoxicated, and turned him over to another officer for an impaired driving investigation. He allegedly showed multiple signs of intoxication during field tests and admitted to having several drinks.  Vohs  refused to provide a breath sample for the Datamaster.

Emma Vohs, who had bar stamps on her hand, also reportedly showed several signs of intoxication and admitted to switching seats with her brother. She showed impairment on field tests and eventually agreed to a Datamaster test after being placed under arrest. Her breath-alcohol level was reported at .193 percent.

The siblings were each charged with OWI first offense, a serious misdemeanor.
