Allegedly driving with a weapon while intoxicated could mean jail time for a North Liberty man.
An officer stopped 37-year-old Craig Kuepker of Grouse Lane at 1:53am January 30th for turning into oncoming traffic at East Iowa Avenue and Clinton Street and reportedly crossing the center line several times over the next seven blocks.
Upon contact, showed signs of intoxication such as bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, swaying while standing, and having the odor of ingested alcohol. He allegedly admitted to drinking multiple beers and was wearing three bar wristbands.
Kuepker reportedly also admitted to having a pistol in a lockbox under his seat. He was able to recite the code, and the officer noted that the lockbox was within reach and was half a digit off from being unlocked.
He provided a PBT showing his breath-alcohol level at over twice the legal limit, and was arrested for OWI. He also faces a charge of possessing weapons while intoxicated, and could be sentenced to up to two years in jail if convicted on both counts.
