A Coralville woman was arrested Sunday after an investigation determined she stole thousands of dollars from an elderly patient in her care.

Back in February of last year, the victim, who is the resident of an assisted living facility, learned of fraudulent activity on his account.  Staff at his bank, the care facility, and law enforcement worked together and discovered that payments had been made from the man’s checking account to several companies not associated with him.

Officers contacted Nest Property Management, one of the companies involved, and reportedly learned that payments were made on behalf of 33-year-old Iesha Miller of 6th Avenue to pay her apartment rent.  An investigation alleged that Miller was an employee of in-home dependent adult care provider Superior Care between July 2023 and February 2024. She directly worked with the victim in his home in August of 2023 and likely had access to his account information during those visits.

A search warrant was conducted on Miller’s residence and reportedly found paperwork to the companies receiving payments from the victim’s account.  Subpoenas were served to Geico, Mid-American Energy, US Celluar, Mediacom and Sanlander Consumer USA allegedly confirming that Miller used the victim’s account to pay her bills.

Investigators identified 35 illegal transactions between December 2023 and February 2025 totaling over $12,300.

A warrant was issued for Miller’s arrest on June 11th. She remained at large until she was booked into the Johnson County Jail Sunday night. She faces charges of Dependent Adult Abuse and 1st degree Theft. If convicted on both counts, Miller could be sentenced to a maximum 15 years in prison.
