An Iowa City man was arrested this month on a warrant stemming from a laundry theft in January.
According to court records, 64-year-old Milton Gray of the Town and Campus Apartments on Arthur Street was observed on video January 18th, taking clothing from a dryer that didn’t belong to him. Police interviewed Gray about the incident, and he claimed that he took the clothes at the direction of a third party and that they were still in that person’s possession.
The third party was also interviewed, and they denied Gray’s claims.
Value of the clothes was estimated at over $1500.
A warrant was issued January 29th, and he was arrested February 1st. Gray faces up to five years in prison on a 2nd degree Theft charge. He was released on his own recognizance the following day pending arraignment.
